Best Project Awards 2010
For the MITU building in Mwanza from the Architects & Quantity Surveyors Registration Board of Tanzania. This is the only architectural award in Tanzania.
The 21ยบ House at Msasani Village received the 3rd Best Project Award.
All residential developments completed in the last 11 years in Tanzania were eligible for the Awards; nominations were also open to the public.
The jury consisted of Arch. Adrian John, QS Margaret Ezekiel, Engineer Julius Kademera and Arch. Peter Stocker.
From the Jury Report for MITU: "...the building itself constitutes a serious architectural response to an important Tanzanian scientific initiative, which creates a humane working environment and is a building of high architectural aspiration".
From the Jury Report for the House at Msasani: "The building has a serious environmental agenda with innovative cross ventilation solutions and exposed concrete soffits for night cooling. It is an exemplar for a modern house in Tanzania which minimises the use of air-conditioning".
