Masterplan & Design of New Wing for Aga Khan Hospital, Dar es salaam. 2002 – 2003

The Masterplan envisaged expansion for the next 20 years. This study for the addition of around 6,000 m2 to the existing Aga Khan Hospital, Dar es salaam in 2003 was carried out closely with the hospital administration and staff.

Surveys, briefing, the impact of future technological developments on the building space, alternative strategies and plans, an assessment of previous and current masterplans, all shaped the final proposal. The new wing was designed to maximise views of the Indian Ocean and minimise the effect of the morning sun.
