Roundabout. The Sun Also Moves, Vadodara. 1993
Structure for a 40m diameter roundabout premised on the act of moving. Through views were possible when the slots coincided as one moved round.
Now you see through, now you don't - a universal children's pastime.
Unlike the tradition of placing an object in the centre, here the receding walls revealed a void, a fundamental concept of Indian philosophy.
The moving shadow of the structure, a fundamental condition of structures in the tropics, gave rise to the designation.
